description location: springfield, mo job type: full-time temporary paid company background: for over 50 years, abec has been a leading supplier to the biopharmaceutical manufacturing industry. abec’s unique value is based on combining long experience with the ability to engineer, design, manufacture, commission, qualify, and service the entire bioprocess to reduce overall cost, shorten time to market, and maximize productivity. abec’s products include process and equipment engineering/consulting services, comprehensive site services, and stainless steel and single use bioprocess equipment, including bioreactors and fermenters, filtration and chromatography systems, prep and hold systems, and cleaning/sterilization systems. position summary: the ehs intern will support the environmental, health & safety team through a combination of project-based assignments and daily ehs activities. this internship provides exposure to workplace safety, environmental compliance, risk assessment, incident prevention, and regulatory requirements within a manufacturing environment. the intern will contribute to departmental goals by assisting with safety audits, inspections, training initiatives, data tracking, and compliance documentation while also leading or supporting up to three meaningful projects designed to improve safety awareness, environmental performance, compliance processes, or operational efficiency. responsibilities: work with the site ehs coordinator to ensure the tasks assigned are fully understood & outcomes are aligned with expected results. be comfortable working with manufacturing teams’ management, contractors, as well as his/her safety team, to identify hazards and risks associated with the manufacturing of biopharmaceutical equipment. provide daily & weekly updates on projects in scope to project sponsors. clearly call out when project milestones /feature sets are at risk of being missed & proactively suggest recommended steps to project sponsors to meet project deliverables. execute other tasks as assigned. include us and ireland sites on updates of projects as needed. requirements pursuing a bachelor's degree in related field. self-starter and self-motivated. excellent communication skills. comfortable with data. competent in excel and word. ability to build & maintain a project plan. familiarity with confined space, line breaking, and leading edge, a plus but not required
