description about cls health cls health is a growing healthcare system in houston, texas that is taking a different approach to healthcare. we are a physician-led healthcare group that focuses on providing patients with holistic, multispecialty care. we're a dynamic team on a mission to provide better healthcare options for houstonians! job overview: the emr (electronic medical records) support specialist is responsible for providing technical assistance and support related to electronic medical records systems. this role involves troubleshooting issues, assisting with software installations and upgrades, training healthcare staff, and ensuring the emr system operates efficiently and effectively. the emr support specialist plays a crucial role in maintaining the integrity and confidentiality of patient information while enhancing the usability and functionality of emr systems. duties/responsibilities: provide first-line support for emr system issues, including software troubleshooting, diagnosing problems, and implementing solutions. respond to user inquiries and service requests via phone, email, or in-person within established timeframes. escalate complex issues to senior it staff or external vendors when necessary. assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of emr software and related applications. participate in system updates, patches, and upgrades to ensure emr systems are up-to-date and secure. monitor system performance and perform regular audits to identify and rectify potential issues. conduct training sessions for healthcare staff on emr functionalities, best practices, and new features. develop and maintain user manuals, training materials, and documentation. provide ongoing support and guidance to ensure staff are proficient in using the emr system. ensure the integrity, accuracy, and confidentiality of patient data within the emr system. implement and adhere to data security protocols and hipaa regulations. assist with data backups, recovery processes, and disaster recovery planning. collaborate with healthcare providers and administrative staff to identify opportunities for improving emr workflows and efficiency. participate in the development and implementation of new processes and enhancements to the emr system. stay current with emr industry trends, advancements, and best practices. maintain detailed records of support activities, issues resolved, and system changes. generate reports on system performance, user satisfaction, and support metrics. communicate findings and recommendations to management. requirements strong technical troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities. excellent communication and interpersonal skills. ability to train and support non-technical users effectively. knowledge of healthcare workflows and medical terminology. familiarity with data security and privacy regulations (e.g., hipaa). associate's or bachelor's degree in information technology, health informatics, computer science, or a related field. previous experience in technical support, it, or healthcare setting preferred. experience with emr systems such as eclinicals, or similar is highly desirable. prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. must be able to lift to 15 pounds at times.
