Primary Location Rapid City, SD USA Department RCH Respiratory Care Scheduled Weekly Hours 0 Starting Pay Rate Range $19.74 - $24.68 (Determined by the knowledge, skills, and experience of the applicant.) Job Summary The Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) Clinical Intern performs all procedures that are within their “scope of clinical competency” as ordered by a physician, as directed by the department leaders, or as defined by the departmental scope of services. The RCP Intern gathers information, sets up and operates equipment, monitors patients, and records all procedures performed in accordance with organization and department policies and procedures. Serves patients and customers with regard to age specific / cultural diversity needs. Performs other duties as assigned for the optimum performance of the department. Seeks guidance from assigned preceptor or a member of the management team as needs are identified and when faced with more complex procedures. • Observes, assesses, monitors signs, symptoms, and reactions to treatment. • Records and reports the patient’s condition and reaction to treatment per departmental policy. • Demonstrates technical skill and accuracy in performing basic clinical and non-clinical tasks. • All other duties as assigned. Additional Requirements Required : Education – Currently Enrolled in a Co-ARC Accredited Respiratory Care Program Certification – Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) Temporary Permit – South Dakota Board of Medical and Osteopathic Examiners, Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification – American Heart Association (AHA) Scheduling Requirements: Requires the ability to work assigned schedules and hours as determined by the department. Physical Requirements: Very Heavy work - exerting over 25 pounds of force constantly (67-100% of the time), and/or more than 50 pounds frequently (34-66% of the time), and/or more than 100 pounds of force occasionally (up to 33% of the time), and/or more than 100 pounds of force seldomly to move objects. Possible exposure to radiation and frequent exposure to contaminated needles and infectious body substances.
